Here are descriptions of the two short plays being done in the showcase:
FREE By Lindsay Price
Two teenagers come across an abandoned picnic. A sign in front of the picnic says, “Free Food.”
Promisetown has been in dire straits ever since the local factory closed two years ago. The townspeople attempt to divide the food fairly, but end up struggling to reconcile their belief systems with their greed.
A stranger appears out of nowhere, offering to solve their problems, but ends up altering the town’s course forever.
A gripping character-driven drama.
THE BALONEY, THE PICKLE, THE ZOMBIES, AND
OTHER THINGS I HIDE FROM MY MOTHER By Bradley Walton
“What are you doing with the baloney?” That’s the question Emma asks her big sister Trina when she finds her in the kitchen at 2 A.M.
But Trina is up to much more than a late night snack-she’s bringing food to life with experiements she hopes will lead to the creation of zombies she can sell as cheap laborers.
Together with her living baloney-minion, Meyer. Trina is about to embark on a night in which she will face an angry neighbor, be questioned by the police, bring a pickle to life, and discover that her food may actually be smarter than she is….all while trying to keep everything from her mother and little sister.
A fantastical journey of comedy.
Join us for an evening serious thought provoking drama and ridiculous comedy!
Both plays are presented through special arrangement with THEATREFOLK.
