Late last year, I had spoken with the Board about the possibility of doing a Thursday night event of Oral Interpretation, perhaps at Tipsy Teapot, if it were free. This would be an event co-sponsored by MAC and Pitt Community College's DRA-122, Oral Interpretation class.

Now that I've had some experience with this group of students and see what excellent quality we will present, I would like to find out if the Board agrees and we can work on securing the facility and inviting an audience. It will need to be on one of two Thursday nights, April 23 or April 30, 7 p.m. or 7:30 to allow a half hour for set up. I don't see expense involved other than the logistics of having some seating. We might use floor lamps on the stage (need extension chords) to give a muted but different kind of light. One chair with handles/armrests would be needed so my senior students from Cypress Glen can sit onstage and then be able to stand. I think we could do about an hour and a half with a refreshment break inbetween. While we would not be able to charge admission because I'm using copyrighted materials as part of their educational experience, we could certainly solicit donations/memberships to Magnolia Arts Center at the event. I believe as long as this is presented as a PCC class presentation, it could also be taped and presented on cable access.

I do have an alternative of simply presenting this at Cypress Glen or still at Cypress Glen under the MAC banner. Please let me know if it looks like MAC would like to pursue this. If not, I'll make other plans! Hopefully, we can move foreward. I think you'll be pleased with the content and diversity of my class and the materials they present.

I think this is a good idea. We will be showing a movie on the 23rd I believe so it would have to be April 30th.

Is this a "go" for April 30? We can hold this at Cypress Glen if Tipsy Teapot is not available, but I have to get a final performance venue set for the class. Could one of the board members confirm? Many thanks. Lee

As far as I know, this has not been discussed. We have a lot on our plate for April. I think it would be better if you asked Delia at the Teapot (though I doubt she has an opening; I think we are showing Blu Moon movies there that week) or if you planned on Cypress Glenn.
