Theatre Uptown Renovation Project
Keep an eye on the Theatre Uptown at the corner of 5th and Evans Streets.  The mural will be finished soon which marks the beginning of the renovation project.  This building will become a great community theatre and event space.

We need your help!  Donations can be made to Magnolia Arts Center for the theatre renovation project.  All contributions are tax deductible.

  Smiles & Frowns Playhouse
FOUNDED in 1986 as a venue for children K-12 to explore all aspects of theater with adult supervision, Smiles and Frowns is a nonprofit organization that produces two plays annually. Since 2001, the playhouse has made its home at the Ayden Arts and Recreation Center. However, Smiles and Frowns draws from a diverse company ranging across Pitt County and eastern North Carolina. The "staff" is made up completely of volunteers, who help children learn about theater both on and behind the stage.
