AUDITIONS FOR PURLIE!

Casting “Purlie The Musical,” based on Ossie Davis’s 1961 play “Purlie Victorious,” about a traveling preacher during the Jim Crow era, who returns to his small Georgia town in hopes of saving the community’s church and emancipating the plantation cotton pickers.

Parts Available:
3 Females-Sing and Dance (African American)
2 Males-Sing and Dance (African American)
2 Males-Sing (Caucasian)
4 Additional Female Singers and Dances (African American)
Audition Process:
You will receive an audition form when you arrive and have your photo taken.
Acting:
At the audition, you will be given pages from the script to read over before the auditions begin.
Singing:
Prepare a short song that best shows your voice
Do not try to go to “big.”  Chose a simple song that best suits you.  This will be done without music.
There may be a song from the show that you will learn at the audition.
Dancing:
The style of dancing in this show is Broadway style that accompanies the songs.
