Fractured Fairy Tales Theatre FUNshop!

FUNshop Objectives: Working and bonding as an ensemble, develop focusing and listening skills, basic acting skills such as sensory awareness, stage movement, and vocalization, relate movement to music and stories, imagine characters and develop movement and voice to create characters, basics of storytelling by writing their own short plays, relate the meaning of fairy tales and stories to their own lives.
The students will immerse themselves in the creative process and then celebrate in their creativity on the final day with their own original fairy tale for parents and friends.
Who’s Who In Instructors:
- Janice V. Schreiber
Janice is one of the founders of the Magnolia Arts Center.She is a graduate of the Department Of Theatre and Dance at East Carolina University. Her theatre studies include graduate work in acting at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, California State University-Dominguez Hills, and most recently Central Washington University. She has studied directing at the Yale University Summer Directing Workshop, the Julliard School Summer Directing Workshop, is a certified teacher of the Michael Chekhov Acting Technique from the University of Southern Maine and has Level One certification in the Alba-Emoting Technique through the University of North Carolina- Asheville. Her professional acting career has spanned over twenty years in various parts of the country prior to her focus on teaching and directing here in North Carolina. In 2007, she was awarded the North Carolina Theatre Conference John W. Parker Award for Excellence in Directing and in 2010 she was awarded the North Carolina Theatre Conference K – 12 Theatre Educators Award. She has been the Director of Theatre at Arendell Parrott Academy for the last twelve years
- Amanda Koons
Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Amanda graduated from Millikin University with her degree in Directing. Amanda has worked with numerous theatre companies including Syracuse Stage, Jenny Wiley Theatre, and Criswell Global Productions. She also helped to create the Gwangju Performance Project in South Korea. She is a professional stage manager. Most recently, Amanda served as the stage manager for the Dance Arts Theatre production of “THE NUTCRACKER” and as stage manager for the NC Academy of Dance Arts’ spring production. Amanda is presently assistant theatre director to Janice Schreiber at Arendell Parrott Academy, but will take over as Director of Theatre in the fall of 2015.
