We believe in the power of the arts to create community

Magnolia Arts Center (MAC) was founded in the fall of 2005, with the dream of creating a comprehensive arts organization for the Greenville area.  Within a year and a half of its creation, Magnolia provided the community with a variety of new and unique artistic offerings and continues to do so.  Less than 10 years after its creation, Magnolia Arts Center moved into its home in the Perkins Complex in 2014.  We are located at 1703 E. 14th Street, Greenville, NC 27858.

Several members of the Greenville community who had been connected through various involvement in theatre organically came together with the idea to start a community theatre in the Greenville area. It started out small with one production in the CM Eppes cafeteria and has blossomed over the past 11 years to include a full season of 6 shows, special events, arts classes, playwrighting contests and community gatherings.

For our first 8 years, we were a nomadic arts organization and in 2014 we finally moved in to our first home. The Magnolia Arts Center has performed in various venues because of many gracious hosts.  For example, we have performed in the Startlight Cafe, The Scullery, the former Music Academy, the Greenville Country Club, among others.

For the first 8 years of our existence we had one president, Robin Ashley, who guided us along the way. Her leadership helped us maintain and focus our vision for future growth. Her dedication to our organization is greatly appreciated and will always be remembered.

Over our span of more than 10 years, we have remained a 100% volunteer organization. This is something we are very proud of and something we hope to maintain into the future. Having volunteers who are passionate about theatre, who are willing to work tirelessly for nothing, is very special to us. We have volunteers to run the day-to-day operations, plan the season, direct shows, act in shows, stage manage shows, help back stage, sew, clean, paint, build, write grants, usher, sell tickets, plant trees, sell concessions, etc. We are truly grateful for all our volunteers and their thousands of hours of service to the Magnolia Arts Center.

MAC continues to believe in the power of the arts to create community.
